● You were right to call it out. Found a real bug in the Codex copy logic plus confirmed why Pieces looks empty.
Codex: dedup bug, lost ~10 chats today
Today (May 16) on disk: 12 codex sessions in ~/.codex/sessions/
Made it to By Date: 4 total (2 from prior runs + 2 this run)
Should have been: 12
Root cause — backup-pipeline.py line 1093-94:
session_id = jsonl_path.stem # "rollout-2026-05-16T11-15-24-019e315b-..."
short_id = session_id[:8] # "rollout-" ← always the same string
Dedup check is if short_id in existing.name, so once ONE codex file lands in 2026-05-16/Coding-Projects/, every subsequent codex chat that day
classifies to that folder gets skipped. The "short_id" is supposed to be the UUID — it's slicing the literal word rollout-.
Fix: pull the UUID from after the timestamp, e.g.
import re
m = re.search(r'([0-9a-f]{8})-[0-9a-f]{4}-[0-9a-f]{4}', jsonl_path.stem)
short_id = m.group(1) if m else jsonl_path.stem[:8]
Pieces OS: 1 conversation is correct
http://localhost:39300/conversations returned exactly 1 conversation (Infrastructure Inventory and DNS Status). Matches your memory note: "Pieces is a
rolling-window live stream, NOT a vault. WPE clears on restart." Pieces only exposes the active rolling window via its public API. Past conversations
aren't surfaced through /conversations.
If you want historical Pieces data, the durable copy is already in Memz Supabase (per the Pieces integration project memory).
Recommended action
Want me to:
1. Patch the codex short_id bug + re-run (will rescue today's 8 missing Codex chats + any historical ones the same bug hid), or
2. Just patch and leave history alone?
⎿ Stop says: [honcho] response → saved response (1729 chars)
✻ Brewed for 2m 2s
※ recap: You ran the chat backup; Codex copied only 2 of 12 sessions today because the dedup logic treats every filename's first 8 chars as "rollout-"
and collapses them. Next: patch short_id to use the UUID and rerun. Pieces showing 1 is correct. (disable recaps in /config)
❯ when I run things in pieces like the dialy sand up and stuff like that wehere is saved and you able to pull that right?

Can I pull it? Partially.
The Pieces OS API only exposes the active rolling window (1-2 most recent conversations). pieces-cli chats confirms — it shows only 2, not 25. The other 23 conversations and all 8,486
summaries are sealed in the DB.
That matches your existing memory note: "Pieces is a rolling-window live stream, NOT a vault. WPE clears on restart."
The bodies in the SQLite are stored as Fleece-encoded BLOBs (Couchbase Lite's binary format), not raw JSON. They can't be SELECT body and read directly.
To actually capture standups going forward
Three options:
1. Backup-on-create — write standups out to a file/Memz at the moment you run them, not after. Treat Pieces as ephemeral.
2. Snapshot the SQLite — stop Pieces OS, copy db.sqlite3, decode Fleece (needs couchbase-lite Python SDK or manual Fleece parser). Hard but doable.
3. Pieces "Save to Materials" — if you explicitly save standup output as a Material/snippet inside Pieces, it persists differently. /assets currently returns 0, so you're not doing this
today.
Want me to build option 1 (a small hook that captures standup output → Memz Supabase immediately) so nothing relies on Pieces' rolling window?
⎿ Stop says: [honcho] response → saved response (1743 chars)
✻ Brewed for 5m 15s
※ recap: Goal was running /backup-chats; you flagged only 2 Codex chats and 0 Pieces conversations. Found a Codex short_id dedup bug hiding ~10 of today's chats, and Pieces API only exposes
its rolling window. Next: approve the Codex patch and re-run. (disable recaps in /config)
❯ Understood. You are asking where the **Pieces for Developers** application (the software itself) saves its data on your computer.
On your Windows system, Pieces saves all snippets, workstream events, and metadata in your local app data folder. The exact paths on your machine are:
### Pieces OS (The Database & Engine)
This is where your long-term memory, snippets, and workstream events are stored locally:
`C:\Users\mikem\AppData\Local\Mesh Intelligent Technologies, Inc\Pieces OS\com.pieces.os`
### Pieces Desktop (The UI)
This is where the user interface configuration and cached assets are stored:
`C:\Users\mikem\AppData\Local\Mesh Intelligent Technologies, Inc\Pieces Desktop\com.pieces.desktop`
### Key Folders Inside the Storage
* **/production/agentic_engine**: Where your workbench and agentic records are stored.
* **/production/osmosis**: Where your Workstream Events (browser activity, code edits) are indexed.
* **/production/database**: The core local database files.
**Important Note:** Pieces data is stored locally and **not** synced to cloud folders like OneDrive or Google Drive to prevent database corruption. You are currently running a "Memz
Ingester" script (located at `D:\ClaudeDev\00_GITHUB\pieces-integration`) that explicitly syncs this local data from your Pieces OS (at `localhost:39300`) to your Supabase backend for
remote backups.

● You're right that the Memz Ingester exists and runs — but there's an important gap. Here's the real status from this hour's run (16:00 UTC, 12 min ago):
Pipeline IS running and capturing
Hourly cron at D:\ClaudeDev\00_GITHUB\pieces-integration\ingester\ → Memz Supabase. Today's run grabbed +940 new rows (now at 74,171 total).
Caught in the last hour:
- 442 hints, 211 websites, 186 events, 76 tags, 19 persons, 4 annotations, 2 workstream summaries
The catch: Pieces API is throttling massively
This run's total_in_pieces vs what the SQLite DB actually holds:
┌──────────────────────┬─────────────┬─────────┬───────────┐
│ Collection │ API exposes │ DB has │ % visible │
├──────────────────────┼─────────────┼─────────┼───────────┤
│ conversations │ 1 │ 25 │ 4% │
├──────────────────────┼─────────────┼─────────┼───────────┤
│ workstream summaries │ 123 │ 8,486 │ 1.4% │
├──────────────────────┼─────────────┼─────────┼───────────┤

├──────────────────────┼─────────────┼─────────┼───────────┤
│ websites │ 8,625 │ 67,953 │ 13% │
└──────────────────────┴─────────────┴─────────┴───────────┘
Pieces' rolling-window kicks records out of API visibility before the ingester sees them. As long as the cron runs hourly, it catches whatever's in the window during that hour. Anything
older is sealed in the Fleece-encoded BLOBs in db.sqlite3 and not accessible without decoding.
Your daily standups specifically
If you run a standup inside Pieces (as a conversation), it'll show up as 1 of 25 — and the ingester saw 1 conversation this run, marked it stale (already synced). The 24 older ones are
lost to the API.
If you generate a standup somewhere else and Pieces captures it via WPE, it lands as a workstream summary or annotation — those are pulling fine (2 new summaries, 4 new annotations in the
last hour).
Two real gaps to close
1. Conversations watermark stuck at 2026-05-13 — ingester thinks it has the 1 conversation already and isn't refreshing the content. If you keep using the same conversation, message
updates aren't being re-pulled.
2. Polling daemon not installed as Windows service (per HANDOFF.md, NSSM step pending). You're relying on hourly cron, so anything that rotates out within an hour is lost.
Want me to fix the conversations watermark logic so it re-pulls when message count changes, and/or finish the NSSM install for the 30s daemon?

Development focused heavily on resolving technical debt within the `master-brain` repository and stabilizing the Codex runtime. The `codex/supermemory-openai` branch, which had become
cluttered with unrelated OpenClaw repair documentation from May 12, was audited and prepared for a clean split. Work progressed on splitting the repository into two distinct
branches: `codex/supermemory-openai-clean` for core memory ingest features and a separate archive branch for OpenClaw runtime logs. During this process, the team identified the root
cause of persistent Codex crashes as a broken `.qmd-tool` submodule gitlink; removing the broken reference from the git index and updating `.gitignore` successfully stabilized the
environment.
Simultaneously, an investigation into the Supabase backend revealed that storage had ballooned from 8GB to 27GB. Technical analysis traced this growth to full-table hash pagination

#### **System Infrastructure and Codex Maintenance**
Development focused heavily on resolving technical debt within the `master-brain` repository and stabilizing the Codex runtime. The `codex/supermemory-openai` branch, which had become
cluttered with unrelated OpenClaw repair documentation from May 12, was audited and prepared for a clean split. Work progressed on splitting the repository into two distinct branches:
`codex/supermemory-openai-clean` for core memory ingest features and a separate archive branch for OpenClaw runtime logs. During this process, the team identified the root cause of
persistent Codex crashes as a broken `.qmd-tool` submodule gitlink; removing the broken reference from the git index and updating `.gitignore` successfully stabilized the environment.
Simultaneously, an investigation into the Supabase backend revealed that storage had ballooned from 8GB to 27GB. Technical analysis traced this growth to full-table hash pagination and
high write amplification from access-count updates. In response, a series of patches were drafted for `scripts/ingest.py` to replace hash pagination with indexed batches and a new SQL
migration, `20260516_reduce_io_storage_growth.sql`, was prepared to throttle access-count increments and lower autovacuum thresholds.
#### **Agent Evolution and the "Petey" Subagent**
A significant architectural pivot occurred regarding the management of skills and SOPs. Discussion concluded that the current library of over 1,000 skills consists largely of "prompts
wearing SOP costumes"—static instructions lacking executable gates or "done" criteria. To rectify this, the team initiated the development of **Petey**, a specialized subagent and skill
designed to act as a "process compiler." Petey's primary role is to ingest raw knowledge from PDFs, patents, and transcripts and emit structured, runnable process definitions.
This shift moves the ecosystem away from passive knowledge lookups toward a **SOP Process API** and **Workflow Runner**. Under this new model, agents will no longer load hundreds of skill
files into their context; instead, they will call the Process API to start or resume specific runs, attaching evidence at each step. Carlos was dispatched to manage two parallel tracks:
**Track A** involving a forensic inventory of all skills across Windows, the `E:` drive, Mac, and VPS3, and **Track B** focused on the technical delivery and smoke testing of Petey using
the `local-seo-site-builder` as a primary test artifact.
#### **Memory Federation and Pinecone Migration**
The "Agentic Federation" reached a milestone with the launch of the **Pinecone Migration (Phase 1)**. The team initialized the `master-brain-skills` index on AWS `us-east-1` using the
`voyage-3-large` embedding model (1024-dim), which was selected for its superior retrieval rank and cost efficiency. The initial ingestion successfully processed 1,643 chunks from 295
skills at a total cost of $0.07. This establishes a high-performance RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) layer that allows agents to query for relevant skill chunks via cosine similarity
rather than loading entire libraries.
Work also addressed the fragmentation of the Pieces OS integration. Currently, Pieces data resides in the "Memz" Supabase silo using a 1536-dimensional model, while `agent-memory.py`
queries the Master Brain using a 3072-dimensional model. To unify the vector space, a plan was approved to re-embed the 73,000 Memz records using `text-embedding-3-large` and mirror them
into the Master Brain's canonical `agent_memories` table. This ensures that any query made by agents like Oliver or Carlos can return Pieces-sourced hits. Local storage paths for Pieces
OS were also mapped to `C:\Users\mikem\AppData\Local\Mesh Intelligent Technologies, Inc\` to facilitate snapshots that bypass the rolling-window limitations of the Pieces API.
#### **Ecosystem Hardening and Fleet Management**
The team performed a major "bloat cleanup" of the `Claude Code` environment. Recognizing that many Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers were redundant with existing CLI tools, 13
per-domain SOP MCPs were removed and replaced by the unified `merlino-sops` interface. Redundant plugins for GitHub, Vercel, and Supabase were also purged in favor of native CLI routing
(`gh`, `vercel`, `supabase`).
for cross-machine agent coordination. **Knox** completed the infrastructure setup involving Tailscale and Cloudflare tunnels, while **Merlin** began forking the broker to support
multi-runtime peer adapters. This will eventually allow agents on the Mac Studio (Hermes) and various VPS instances to communicate through a single hosted broker, eliminating the "zombie
process" issues observed in local SQLite-based setups.
#### **Project Deployments and Agency Strategy**
In the client lane, the `archangel-v2-mosaic.vercel.app` [Dashboard](https://archangel-v2-mosaic.vercel.app/dashboard) and `archangel-v7-tactical.vercel.app` [Tactical
Command](https://archangel-v7-tactical.vercel.app) were reviewed. The latest SEO audit for Archangel Centers showed a critical health score of 41/100, primarily due to a total lack of
schema markup and NAP mismatches on sites like `AddictionHelp.com`.
For the **Video Tools** project, the team deployed a 118-video gallery to [ranking-reels-gallery.vercel.app](https://ranking-reels-gallery.vercel.app/). This deployment includes full
inline data and persistent marks in `localStorage`. Discussion with Brian Hong highlighted a strategic shift toward a $1M agency model, focusing on high-ticket business intelligence
dashboards and "Done For You" performance-based SEO for premium clients like Beverly Hills Dental Group. Plans are being finalized for a [Mastermind in Austin,
Texas](https://archangel-v7-tactical.vercel.app), scheduled for early June, to further harden these agency operations.

└─────────────────────────┴──────┴───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
So today's two curated exports are NOT in Memz.
Root cause — found it
Pieces stores curated summaries in a separate DB collection:
kv_.internal\Summary\Reports 251 rows
That's where your auto-curated docs ("Time Breakdown", "SkillMemz", etc.) live. The public Pieces OS API at /internal_summary_reports returns 404 — the collection isn't exposed via REST.
The Memz ingester has 8 collectors (summaries, conversations, annotations, tags, persons, websites, hints, events) and zero of them touch internal_summary_reports.
Picked up 1 new Pieces conversation (the active rolling window grew from 1 to 2). Still no path to the 251 curated reports.
Two ways to actually fix this
1. SDK route — Pieces Python SDK (python-sdk/.venv/ already installed) may expose InternalSummaryReportsApi even when REST doesn't. New col/internal_summary_reports.py collector → Memz.
Unlocks all 251 + future ones automatically.
2. SQLite route — decode the Fleece-encoded BLOBs directly from db.sqlite3. Unlocks internal_summary_reports (251) + sealed conversations (25) + everything else the API hides. Harder,
needs a Fleece parser, has to run when Pieces OS is stopped or with a snapshot copy.
Recommend option 1 first — much simpler, no DB locking risk. Want me to check the SDK for an internal_summary_reports endpoint and wire it up?
⎿ Stop says: [honcho] response → saved response (1990 chars)
✻ Brewed for 2m 23s
※ recap: Goal: make sure Pieces daily standups and curated exports actually land in Memz. Today's "Time Breakdown" and "SkillMemz" exports aren't there because they live in Pieces'
`internal_summary_reports` collection, which the ingester doesn't pull. Next: check the Pieces Python SDK for that endpoint and wire a new collector. (disable recaps in /config)

Bonus — the pieces_event captures even include your shared headers ("Shared Time Breakdown from Pieces..."), so the full export including the markdown table content is preserved.
Why option 1 (SDK route) wasn't actually needed
I was wrong about the internal_summary_reports collection being the home for curated docs. Pieces stores curated exports as workstream summaries with name set to the curated title
("SkillMemz", "Time Breakdown (May 16)", "Day Recap", "Morning Brief", etc.). The 251 rows in kv_.internal\Summary\Reports are something else (probably Pieces' own internal periodic
activity reports, not user-facing).
The pipeline was correct, just lagging the hourly cron.
Two quick wins remaining
1. Tighten cron to 15 min instead of hourly — would have caught your 12:39 PM exports within 15 min instead of needing manual trigger
2. Install NSSM polling daemon (30s) per HANDOFF.md — true real-time
Want either? Or move on?

✻ Cooked for 4m 53s
※ recap: You were checking whether Pieces exports get backed up to Memz. The pipeline works but lags hourly cron, so today's SkillMemz and Time Breakdown only landed after I manually
triggered a sync. Next: decide whether to tighten cron to 15 min.

claude-control-hook.mjs only sends event metadata (type, session_id, cwd) to the dashboard — no message content.
Memz/Brain/Mem0/Hindsight have NO chat-level Stop hook. They pull from external sources (Pieces, ClickUp, etc.) but never see what Claude actually says to you. Subagent responses land in
Memz, but chat responses don't.
What I suggest
Three things, in order:
1. Add a chat-Stop hook that writes to Memz + Hindsight (biggest gap) — mirror what Honcho does but to your own systems. One Python script, ~50 lines. Reads transcript path from event,
grabs last user→assistant exchange, POSTs to Memz Supabase + Hindsight mac:8888. Closes the silent-Stop gap permanently.
2. Tighten Pieces ingester cron 60→15 min — one-line change to the scheduled task. Catches today's-style 12:39 PM exports inside 15 min instead of needing manual triggers.
3. Skip NSSM 30s daemon for now — too aggressive. With #1 + #2 above, you'd have chat-Stop coverage + 15-min Pieces coverage. NSSM only matters if you want sub-minute Pieces capture
(rare).
#1 is the real fix. #2 is housekeeping. #3 isn't worth doing yet.
Want me to build #1?
⎿ Stop says: [honcho] response → saved response (1883 chars)
✻ Crunched for 57s
❯ #1 and #2 and hey thge provelance logger is still working right? I never added that to what /backupchats grabs but it should! per project I think it works or I am not sure but check that
now

● Stopping the hunt before I rabbit-hole. Here's where I'm at:
Provenance logger — partial answer
Status: NOT wired in your global Stop hook. It only fires inside specific project folders that have .claude/settings.local.json referencing it (like _working-on/working-on/.claude/).
Templates all have it baked in, but copies don't auto-activate elsewhere.
Where it logs (when active):
- ~/.claude/logs/sessions/{datetime}-{session_id_short}.jsonl (per-session JSONL)
- ~/.claude/logs/activity.db (SQLite, all sessions, WAL mode)
So yes, per-project provenance works in template-based projects, but most of your day-to-day sessions (like this one in D:\ClaudeDev) get zero provenance capture because there's no
.claude/settings.local.json here referencing it.
For /backup-chats integration: the right move is to point the backup pipeline at ~/.claude/logs/activity.db and include provenance entries alongside chat JSONL. Easy 20-line add.
Pieces cron — couldn't locate the trigger
I ran schtasks /query (returned 0 tasks visible without admin) and grep'd code for main.py --incremental (no callers found). The ingester IS clearly running hourly (logs prove it: 14:00,
15:00, 16:00, 17:00 UTC today) — but the trigger is hiding. Could be:
- Admin-only scheduled task (needs elevation to see)
- A long-running Python process in a sleep loop
- A Windows service
Need to know where it lives before I can change 60→15 min.
Quick way to find it: open Task Scheduler GUI (taskschd.msc) as admin and look for "pieces" or "ingester" — way faster than CLI permission gymnastics. Or tell me if you remember setting it
up via NSSM/service/cron.
Proposed plan
Three small things, ranked by impact:
1. Build chat-Stop hook (chat-stop-memory.py) — clones subagent-stop-memory.py pattern. Writes user→assistant exchange to Memz + Hindsight on every chat Stop. ~80 lines.
2. Wire provenance-logger globally — add provenance-logger.py to your global Stop + PostToolUse hooks so EVERY session gets activity.db entries, not just template projects.
3. Add activity.db to /backup-chats — Phase 1d that copies ~/.claude/logs/activity.db into By Date/{today}/activity-db-snapshot.db so backups carry provenance too.
4. Pieces cron 60→15 min — pending you finding the trigger or telling me how to find it.
● Bash(echo "=== full subagent-stop-memory.py (template for chat-stop) ==="
wc -l /c/Users/mikem/.claude/hooks/subagent-stop-memory.py…)
